The Crafty Creatives is a non-profit organization offering weekly art and craft workshops for women diagnosed with cancer. Located in Outwood, Wakefield, our support groups offer a welcoming environment for patients to connect, create, and find comfort. Providing refreshments and a friendly atmosphere, we strive to foster the wellbeing of our community through artistic expression.
Additionally, we conduct bi-weekly women's only wellbeing craft sessions designed to facilitate connections with others, enjoy crafting, and learn new skills in the process.
The Crafty Creatives was established in January 2023 by Claire Stewart, who, after her own cancer diagnosis in April 2022 and subsequent recovery, was inspired to create a support group due to the lack of cancer support provisions in her local area. We have also introduced weekly sessions for home-educated children, running kids' craft clubs that foster friendships and teach new skills. In the future, we hope to host support sessions for carers.
